The Hush

In the silence of the Winter,

the snow,

it is said,

makes not a sound,

as it falls to its bed.

But the deepest of silences,

results in a hush-

As the caw of the raven reminds not to rush.

This crystalline lullaby

brings with it a sound-

With a cadence,

it floats,

down unto the ground.

The crisp icy air,

winds Winter’s clock-

With a hum, and a drum,

and a tick, and a tock.

The trees, as they creak,

from the weight of the cold,

give voices to the season,

that are ancient and old.

The hush, it grows louder,

as the silence grows white-

It whispers with a resonance,

deep within the night.

The solace and the solitude,

lend strange beauty to the stark,

It chants, and enchants,

in the bare shadows of the dark.

And if you listen with your patience,

instead of your ear…

The hush of the Winter,

is hauntingly clear.

    1. Thank you. I took a short break for the holidays since I had already met my scheduled number of posts for this year. I had posted multiple entries earlier on so that I would be able to take a little time off. I still have one more going out next week, and then we will start fresh in January!
